Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows

  • Ctrl-C: Copy
  • Ctrl-X: Cut
  • Ctrl-V: Paste
  • Ctrl-A: Select all
  • Ctrl-Z: Undo
  • Delete: Delete
  • Shift-Delete: Bypasses the Recycle Bin to permanently deletes files.
  • Ctrl-Z: Undo
  • Ctrl-Left Arrow: Move insertion point to the beginning of the previous word.
  • Ctrl-Left Arrow: Move insertion point to the beginning of the next word.
  • Ctrl-Up Arrow: Move insertion point to the beginning of the previous paragraph.
  • Ctrl-Down Arrow: Move insertion point to the beginning of the next paragraph.
  • Ctrl-Shift + Any Arrow Key: Highlight a block of text.
  • Shift + Any Arrow Key: Select more than one item in a window or select text within a document.
  • Alt-Enter: View properties for the selected item.
  • Ctrl-Esc: Display the Start Menu.
  • Alt-Tab: Holding down the Alt key, hit the tab key to cycle through all open programs. Icons are displayed for each open program. When you release both keys, you will activate the currently selected program.
  • Alt-Esc and Alt-Shift-Esc: Shifts forward and backward through all open programs.
  • Alt-Spacebar: Opens the shortcut menu for the active window.
  • Ctrl-F6 and Ctrl-Shift-F6: Shifts forward and backward through all the open windows in the currently active program.
  • Alt-F4: Closes the currently active program.
  • Ctrl-F4: Closes the active window in the currently active program.
  • Ctrl while dragging an item: Copy selected item.
  • Ctrl-Shift while dragging an item: Create a shortcut for the item.
  • F2: Rename selected item.
  • F3: Search for a file.
  • F4: Display the address bar list in My Computer or Windows Explorer.
  • F5: Refresh the active window.
  • F6: Cycle through screen elements on the desktop or in a window.
  • F10: Activate the menu bar for the active program.
  • Shift-F10: Display the shortcut menu for the selected item.
  • Backspace: View the folder one level up in Microsoft Explorer or My Computer.
  • Esc: Cancel the current task.
  • Shift when you insert a CD or DVD: Prevent Autoplay from running.

Dialog Box Shortcuts

  • Ctrl-Tab: Move forward through the tabs.
  • Ctrl-Shift-Tab: Move backward through the tabs.
  • Tab: Move forward through the options.
  • Shift-Tab: Move backward through the options.
  • Alt-Underlined Letter: Carry out the corresonding command or option.
  • Spacebar: Select or clear the corresponding option button.
  • Enter: Carry out the command of the active button or option.

Keyboard Shortcuts for Internet Explorer

  • Alt-D: Activate the Address bar
  • Alt-<Left Arrow>: Previous Page
  • Alt-<Right Arrow>: Next Page
  • Alt-Home: Go to home page
